What Antardasha Means for Timing
Antardasha (अन्तर्दशा) is the sub-period within a Mahadasha — also called Bhukti. The Mahadasha (major period) subdivides into nine Antardashas ruled by all nine planets in sequence. The Antardasha lord introduces its own themes alongside the Mahadasha lord's influence. When both Dasha and Antardasha lords are strong and mutually friendly, results are excellent. When they are enemies or both weak, the sub-period brings challenges.

Reading Antardasha in Practice
The Antardasha lord modulates the Mahadasha's energy. During Rahu Mahadasha with Jupiter Antardasha, Jupiter's wisdom and grace soften Rahu's intensity. During Rahu/Saturn Antardasha, both shadow and karmic energy intensify. Always check: (1) Is the Antardasha lord friend or enemy of the Mahadasha lord? (2) What house does the Antardasha lord rule from Lagna? (3) Is it placed well or in a Dusthana? These three questions predict the sub-period's quality precisely.
