Planetary Lines Across the Globe
Astrocartography (also called locational astrology or AstroCartoGraphy, trademarked by Jim Lewis) maps four lines for each planet across a world map: the AS line (planet on Ascendant), the DS line (Descendant), the MC line (Midheaven), and the IC line (4th house cusp). Where you live or travel along or near these lines, that planet's themes become prominently active. Venus AS lines are associated with beauty, ease, and romance; Saturn IC lines with restriction and ancestral weight at home.
Key Astrocartography Lines
| Line Type | Planet on... | Area of Life |
|---|---|---|
| AS line | Ascendant | Identity and appearance |
| DS line | Descendant | Relationships and others |
| MC line | Midheaven | Career and reputation |
| IC line | Imum Coeli | Home and private life |
Using Astrocartography
Before relocating or planning an extended trip, check your astrocartography map. Jupiter MC lines are traditionally associated with professional success and recognition in that location. Neptune AS lines may bring creative inspiration but also confusion. Mars lines can energize but also inflame conflict. The closer you are to a line (within 700 miles is meaningful), the stronger the planet's influence. Use astrocartography as one lens among many — it should be combined with transits and the relocation chart for a full assessment.
