Your Evolved Natal Chart
The progressed chart is the natal chart advanced through secondary progressions — planetary positions on the day corresponding to the year of life under examination (day 35 after birth = age 35). It is a separate chart, alongside the natal, that shows the psychological and symbolic state of development. Interpret the progressed chart by comparing it to the natal: progressed planets aspecting natal planets, progressed sign and house changes, and progressed angles mark the most significant developmental shifts.
Key Progressed Markers
| Marker | Significance |
|---|---|
| Progressed Sun sign change | Major identity evolution (~every 30 yrs) |
| Progressed Moon conjunct natal planet | Emotional activation of that planet |
| Progressed New/Full Moon | 28-year life cycle culmination |
| Progressed planet turns retrograde/direct | Significant shift in that planet's life theme |
Reading the Progressed Chart
Start with the progressed Sun and Moon — their signs, houses, and aspects to natal planets tell the most important developmental story. Then look for any progressed planet that has recently changed sign, turned retrograde or direct, or entered a new house. These are chapters opening or closing. When a progressed planet forms an exact conjunction or opposition with a natal planet (within 1°), the themes of both planets are powerfully active — this is often the most important period for those planetary significations in adult life.
