Understanding Ashtakoot Matching

Varna (1 Point)

Varna represents the spiritual compatibility and ego levels between partners. It classifies individuals into four categories: Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and Shudra, based on their Moon sign placement.

Vasya (2 Points)

Vasya assesses mutual attraction and the power dynamics in a relationship. It determines who will have a more dominant influence and measures the magnetic pull between partners.

Tara (3 Points)

Tara evaluates the birth star (nakshatra) compatibility. It indicates the health, well-being, and longevity of the relationship by comparing the nakshatras of both individuals.

Yoni (4 Points)

Yoni represents physical and intimate compatibility between partners. Each nakshatra is associated with an animal, and the compatibility between these animals determines the Yoni score.

Maitri (5 Points)

Maitri (Graha Maitri) evaluates mental compatibility and friendship between the Moon sign lords of both individuals. It indicates intellectual harmony and mutual understanding.

Gan (6 Points)

Gan assesses temperament compatibility by classifying individuals as Dev (divine), Manushya (human), or Rakshasa (demon). It indicates the behavioral harmony between partners.

Bhakoot (7 Points)

Bhakoot is one of the most important categories, evaluating the Moon sign relationship between partners. It affects emotional connection, financial prosperity, and family happiness.

Nadi (8 Points)

Nadi carries the highest points and evaluates genetic and physiological compatibility. It is considered crucial for healthy progeny. Matching Nadi (Aadi, Madhya, or Antya) is generally considered a dosha.
