Peak and Illumination
The Full Moon (पूर्णिमा, Purnima) occurs when the Moon is exactly opposite the Sun — fully illuminated and maximally visible. It represents the peak of the lunar cycle: whatever intentions or actions were seeded at the New Moon two weeks earlier now reach their height of expression, visibility, or crisis. Full Moons illuminate: they bring hidden things to light, amplify emotions, and complete cycles. Vedic astrology considers Purnima especially auspicious for worship, charity, and spiritual practices.

Purnima in Vedic Tradition
Purnima is one of the most sacred days in the Vedic calendar. Many major festivals — Guru Purnima, Kartik Purnima, Sharad Purnima — fall on Full Moons in specific months. In Jyotish, a strong natal Moon (well-placed, in Taurus exaltation, in the 1st or 4th house) benefits enormously from Purnima practices. The Full Moon's house transit shows which area of your life receives heightened illumination and intensity each month.
